Loop

The Loop

The Loop is the unofficial name for the business district in downtown Chicago.  In the last ten years, it has become a much desired residential locale.

Towering commercial skyscrapers and numerous landmark buildings surround the residential buildings offering stunning, and at times, up-close views of many of Chicago's most famous and historic buildings.

One of the most desirable locales for homeowners in the Loop is famed State Street.  It is a hub of shopping anchored by the landmark Marshall Field's and Carson Pierre Scott buildings.  Developers have converged on this street just two blocks from Lake Michigan and Millennium Park.

Unique condominium projects, such as Joffrey Tower, are special due to their mix of retail, commercial and residential space.  This 174 unit building is home to the Joffrey Ballet and allows pedestrians walking the street to view dancers training in the practice rooms.

The majority of condominiums in the Loop are new and thus offer amenities such as parking, private outdoor space and in-unit washer/dryers.  There are a few scattered converted buildings that require homeowners to park on the street or in a pay lot.

While the heart of the Loop is the business district, don't be fooled.  Many famous sculptures grace the streets by such famed artists as Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall and Alexander Calder making the walk to and from home quite pleasurable.

I would be remiss in not mentioning the plethora of theatres offering world class live performances daily.  The Auditorium Theater, The Goodman Theatre, LaSalle Bank Theatre , Cadillac Palace Theatre and the world famous Chicago Theatre are all within walking distance.

Another key attraction to the Loop is the proximity to the main core of the "L" which circles the Loop's center with access to Brown, Purple, Red, Orange, Green and Pink lines, with the Blue line running just a steps away.  If you are heading to the suburbs, Union Station and Ogilvie Transportation Center operate both Metra and Amtrak lines.

The Loop is bound by the Chicago River on the West, Michigan Avenue on the East, Wacker Drive on the North and Congress Parkway on the South.
